About the role

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Optician to join our team at our Seri Iskandar, Perak location. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in our optical practice. As an Optician, you will be responsible for dispensing and fitting spectacles and contact lenses, assisting with eye examinations, and providing expert advice to patients on their optical needs. This position is essential to ensuring patients receive accurate prescriptions and comfortable, well-fitted eyewear solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Dispensing spectacles and contact lenses based on prescriptions issued by optometrists or ophthalmologists
• Accurately measuring and fitting eyewear to ensure optimal comfort and visual performance for patients
• Providing expert advice to patients on lens options, frame selection, and eyewear maintenance
• Assisting optometrists during eye examinations and diagnostic tests
• Recording and maintaining accurate patient records and prescription information
• Demonstrating proper use and care of contact lenses to patients
• Performing adjustments and repairs to spectacles and frames
• Maintaining knowledge of current optical products, materials, and technologies
• Contributing to a welcoming and professional environment that promotes patient satisfaction
• Ensuring compliance with relevant optical and healthcare regulations

What we're looking for

• A recognised qualification in Optometry or Dispensing Optics from an accredited institution
• Current registration or licensing as an Optician, where applicable in your jurisdiction
• Proven experience in optical dispensing and fitting, ideally in a retail or clinical optical setting
• Strong knowledge of spectacle lenses, frames, contact lenses, and optical equipment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with patients
• Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in measurements and record-keeping
• Proficiency in optical software systems and point-of-sale systems
• A commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with optical advancements
• Ability to work effectively within a team and provide exceptional customer service
• Physical ability to perform tasks requiring standing, precise hand-eye coordination, and manual dexterity
