Job Summary

We are a single doctor practice looking for an experienced Optician to take the lead in managing our optical. Our current Optician, who has been a valued member of our team for over 20 years, is beginning to plan her well-deserved retirement, and we’re looking for someone to step into her role and take the reins.

Duties

• Assist patients in selecting and fitting eyewear, including spectacle lens dispensing and frame adjustments
• Fitting glasses to ensure proper alignment for optimal vision correction
• Operate POS systems and cash registers efficiently while maintaining accurate financial transactions
• Provide excellent customer service by answering questions about optical products, insurance policies, and medical terminology
• Manage optical laboratory tasks such as frame repairs, checking in jobs, processing orders, etc.
• Maintain patient records using EMR/EHR systems while adhering to clinical confidentiality policies and HIPAA regulations

Experience

• Prior retail sales experience with a focus on eyewear or optical products preferred
• Hands-on laboratory experience with spectacle lens dispensing and eyewear fittings required
• Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems, POS systems, and medical coding practices essential. Also familiarity with vision insurances and relevant coding is a plus.
• Experience working within clinic or retail optometry environments is highly desirable
• Understanding of HIPAA, clinical confidentiality policies, medical records management, and health regulation policies necessary
• Ability to perform basic math calculations for retail transactions and laboratory measurements accurately

Pay: $27.00 - $32.00 per hour
