Optician

Duties:

• Assist customers in selecting and fitting eyeglasses and contact lenses based on their prescription and personal preferences
• Take accurate measurements of customers' eyes and facial features to ensure proper fit of eyewear
• Educate customers on lens options, coatings, and frames to help them make informed decisions
• Adjust and repair eyeglasses as needed to ensure optimal comfort and functionality for customers
• Perform administrative tasks such as maintaining customer records, scheduling appointments, and processing insurance claims
• Keep the optical area clean and organized

Experience:

• Previous experience working as an optician or in a similar role is required
• Knowledge of medical billing procedures and experience with insurance claims processing
• Strong sales skills with the ability to effectively communicate with customers and provide exceptional customer service
• Understanding of human physiology, anatomy, and optics as they relate to vision care
• Familiarity with optical equipment and tools used for measuring and fitting eyewear
• Proficiency in using electronic health record systems (e.g., Epic) for documenting patient information
• Retail sales experience is a plus, particularly in the field of eyewear or related industries
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality
