Optometric Assistant

Focus is looking to add a new member to our team who will be the primary optometric assistant to our providers. The ideal candidate is reliable, enthusiastic, engaged, and a quick learner.

Front Office & Patient Coordination

• Answer incoming phone calls in a professional and friendly manner
• Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments
• Verify and file vision and medical insurance benefits

Clinical Support

• Perform pre-testing procedures including (but not limited to):
• Autorefraction
• Retinal imaging and other diagnostic testing as needed

Optical & Sales

• Assist patients with frame and lens selection
• Process eyewear orders and ensure accurate documentation

Additional Duties

• Occasional scribing during patient exams and assisting with basic coding
• Cross-train and assist with other office duties as needed to support daily operations

Qualifications

• Previous experience in an optometry or healthcare setting preferred (but not required)
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Comfortable using computers and electronic health record (EHR) systems
• Ability to multitask and stay organized in a busy clinical environment
• Sales experience or interest in eyewear sales is a plus
• Willingness to learn and be cross-trained in multiple roles

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour

Experience:

• Optical/Optometry: 2 years (Required)
