Position Overview:
As an Optometric Assistant, you’ll play a key role in supporting both the doctor and the office team. You’ll gain exposure to clinical workflows, patient care, and retail operations—making this an ideal role for students pursuing careers in optometry, healthcare, or customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Greet patients and manage front desk operations with professionalism and warmth
• Verify insurance benefits and assist with patient intake and scheduling
• Perform pre-testing procedures including auto-refraction, tonometry, and visual acuity screenings
• Assist the optometrist during exams and patient flow coordination
• Guide patients in frame selection and lens options based on lifestyle and prescription needs
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the optical and exam areas
• Support inventory management and product displays
• Learn and uphold HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards
• Contribute to a positive, team-oriented office culture

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in college or university (pre-optometry, health sciences, or related field) preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Detail-oriented with a willingness to learn and take initiative
• Comfortable working with technology and learning new systems
• Prior customer service or retail experience is a plus, but not required
