Responsibilities

• Greet patients warmly and efficiently manage patient intake processes, including collecting medical histories and verifying insurance information.
• Measure vital signs such as blood pressure to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Assist the optometrist during eye examinations by performing preliminary tests like visual acuity assessments, and intraocular pressure measurements.
• Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality and ensure compliance with privacy standards.
• Prepare exam rooms using aseptic techniques to ensure a clean, safe environment for both patients and staff.
• Manage electronic medical records (EMR) systems to document patient information accurately and efficiently.
• Support optical services by assisting with frame selection, lens ordering, retail sales, and inventory management while applying retail math principles for accurate transactions.
• Collaborate with front desk staff to schedule appointments, handle patient inquiries, and manage medical billing or coding processes related to ophthalmology services.

Skills

• Strong commitment to patient care with excellent communication skills that create a welcoming atmosphere.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and experience maintaining confidentiality in a medical setting.
• Experience working with EMR systems such as Epic or similar platforms for accurate record keeping.
• Ability to handle retail sales transactions confidently while applying retail math principles for accurate billing.
• Front desk skills including appointment scheduling, patient communication, and managing medical records efficiently.
