Optometric Technician / Receptionist

We are seeking a friendly, detail-oriented Optometric Technician/Receptionist to support both front-desk and clinical operations in a busy eye care practice.

Front Desk / Reception Duties

• Greet patients and create a welcoming first impression
• Answer phones, schedule appointments, check patients in and out
• Verify vision insurance eligibility and benefits
• Collect copays and payments; process invoices
• Maintain patient records (EHR systems)
• Handle referrals, authorizations, and follow-up calls/reminders
• Manage paperwork, forms, and scanning documents
• Process insurance claims and billing
• Ensure HIPAA compliance
• Support office workflow and assist team members as needed

Clinical / Technician Duties

• Perform pre-testing (visual acuity, autorefraction, tonometry, retinal imaging as trained)
• Record patient medical and ocular history
• Educate patients on contact lens care and usage
• Train patients on inserting and removing contact lenses
• Maintain cleanliness and calibration of exam equipment

Qualifications:

• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Attention to detail and comfort with EHR systems
• Prior optometry or medical office experience preferred (training provided)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour

Experience:

• Microsoft Word: 1 year (Preferred)
• optometry tech: 1 year (Preferred)
• optical billing: 1 year (Preferred)
