This paid position offers a unique opportunity to develop your skills in optometric and medical office procedures while making a meaningful difference in patients’ lives.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for their eye examinations by collecting intake information and updating medical records accurately within electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen saturation to support optometric assessments.
  • Assist optometrists with diagnostic procedures including tonometry (measuring intraocular pressure) and ophthalmic imaging to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Conduct basic eye tests and perform preliminary assessments of visual acuity to support comprehensive eye exams.
  • Operate medical equipment safely following aseptic techniques to prevent infection and ensure accurate results during ophthalmic examinations.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times by adhering strictly to clinical confidentiality policies and HIPAA standards.
  • Provide excellent patient service by explaining procedures, answering questions, and ensuring a comfortable experience for pediatric and adult patients alike.
  • Manage medical records diligently, ensuring accuracy, organization, and compliance with clinic policies for both electronic and paper-based documentation.

Experience

  • Previous experience working in a medical office environment or optometry clinic is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) or electronic medical record (EMR) management systems is essential.
  • Knowledge of ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment such as tonometer and other ophthalmic tools is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology related to eye anatomy, physiology, and clinical procedures.
  • Experience in patient service roles that involve direct patient care, especially with pediatric populations or in retail optical settings, is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain clinical confidentiality policies while providing outstanding customer service.

Join us in delivering exceptional eye care through compassion, precision, and professionalism! This role offers the chance to grow your career in ophthalmology while making a positive impact on patients’ vision health every day.
