We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician/Optician to support our eye care team in delivering exceptional vision and eye health services. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in ophthalmology, optics, and retail sales, with a commitment to providing outstanding customer service. This role involves assisting with patient examinations, managing optical dispensary operations, and ensuring compliance with health regulations and confidentiality policies. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating excellent communication skills and technical proficiency.

Duties

• Assist optometrists during patient examinations by preparing equipment and recording medical history.
• Conduct preliminary tests such as visual acuity assessments, intraocular pressure measurements, and basic physiology evaluations.
• Dispense spectacle lenses and contact lenses accurately, including fitting and adjustments of eyewear to ensure optimal comfort and vision correction.
• Operate POS systems for retail sales transactions, including cash register operations and medical billing procedures.
• Maintain clinic cleanliness using aseptic techniques, ensure proper storage of medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations, and uphold clinical confidentiality policies.
• Support retail management activities such as inventory control, optical stock management, and retail math calculations for sales optimization.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in ophthalmology or optometry clinics is highly desirable, with proficiency in optical dispensing and laboratory work.
• Knowledge of medical terminology related to eye health, anatomy, physiology, and health regulation policies is essential.
• Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems forms for managing medical records efficiently.
• Strong understanding of state healthcare regulations, HIPAA compliance standards, and clinical confidentiality policies.
• Experience with spectacle lens dispensing, eyewear fittings, frame adjustments, and optical laboratory procedures.
• Excellent customer service skills combined with retail sales experience to enhance patient satisfaction and drive sales growth.
• Basic math skills for POS operations, billing calculations, and inventory management tasks.
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment while maintaining attention to detail in clinical procedures and retail operations.

Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
