Optometric Technician/scribe

Duties include, but not limited to:

• Properly greet and work up patients in a timely manner (as soon as patient is checked in and ready), with a friendly, outgoing attitude.
• Working up patients to include:
• Optomap Photos- Once trained, a consistent quality of photos and OCT is expected.
• Topcon
• Pupillary Distance
• Preliminary Testing- Demonstrating understanding of tests done and why we do them.
• Refractions: Completing accurate refractions for patients with minimal doctor rechecks.
• Present Chief Complaint to the Doctor.
• Scribe the encounter for the Doctor.
• Consistently checking for accuracy in date of encounter, Assessment and Plan notes and coding the exam.
• Pass the patient off to front desk or to optical with friendly, outgoing attitude.
• Other duties include:
• Doing Visual Fields as needed.
• Creating encounters for the next day’s patients.
• Cleaning Encounter sheets as needed and creating them for the next day.
• Emptying trash at end of day.
• Cleaning windows and doors of exams lanes and Aquarium.
• Vacuuming carpets every other day.
• Sweeping back office hallway
• Wiping down bathroom at end of day.
• Stocking exam lanes as needed, including patient letters and forms.

Those looking to be a Lead Technician/Scribe will demonstrate the ability to do ALL of the above with high quality performance achieved on a consistent basis. They will clearly exceed position requirements on a regular basis. They will demonstrate the ability to cooperate, work and communicate clearly and compassionately with coworkers, supervisors, subordinates and/or outside contacts. They will accept and respond to change in a positive manner, taking responsibility for their own performance and job assignments. They will demonstrate proper judgement and decision-making skills when directing others and will direct work flow in assigned areas effectively to meet area goals.

Pay: $23.56 - $28.38 per hour
