Optometrist Assistant (Optometric Technician)

Job Summary

We are looking for a part-time Optometrist Assistant to join our independent practice inside Costco in Champaign, IL. This position offers a dynamic role combining administrative and clinical responsibilities - with comprehensive training provided for all duties. Currently hiring for Wednesday only, may add more days in the near future.

Administrative Duties

• Scheduling patient appointments over the phone, in-person, or online.
• Verifying insurance benefits and submitting insurance claims.
• Checking patients in and out of their appointments.
• Performing basic bookkeeping tasks.
• Maintaining patient records and managing digital patient information forms.

Clinical Duties

• Conducting preliminary testing and charting.
• Preparing examination rooms, ensuring they are clean, organized, and well-stocked.
• Cleaning and arranging office and equipment, including sterilization of instruments.

Requirements

• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Preferred (but willing to train)

• Prior experience in a healthcare or optical setting is a plus
• Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems
• Basic knowledge of optical terminology and anatomy
