Optometrist

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
2.1 Taking history from the patient relevant to his eyes/ visual complaints.
2.2 Performing Refraction, cycle refractive power that the patient needs to achieve best corrected
visual acuity BCVA.
2.3 Reporting to attending physician (Ophthalmologist) any detected/ suspected abnormalities in the
patient eyes which were revealed d by examination (i.e. Amblyopia, cataract).
2.4 Counselling the patients about the proper way to use their glasses or contact lenses, and explain
the benefits and risks of neglecting safe use rules (especially for contact lenses).
2.5 Speak to patients to get detailed case histories from them.
2.6 Manage and monitor some eye conditions, either automatically or alongside other healthcare
Professionals.
2.7 Detect signs and symptoms of general health conditions such as diabetes.
2.8 Fit spectacles or contact lenses.
2.9 Discuss vision- related matters with patients, and offer advice and reassurance.
2.10 Offer help and advice to patients when choosing frames and lenses.
2.11 Complying with UMC OSH Policy and rules and regulations.
2.12 Ensure correctly using tools, equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) in
accordance with agreed safe work practices.
2.13 Aware about the reporting of OSH hazards, incidents and issues.
2.14 Ensure application of appropriate risk control measures.

Pay: From AED1.00 per month
