Company Overview

Are you an Optometrist who is passionate about helping patients achieve their best vision and improving their quality of life? Do you enjoy combining clinical expertise with compassionate patient care in a collaborative, innovative environment?

At IQ Laser Vision, we're not just correcting vision, we're transforming lives. For over 25 years, our surgeons have collectively performed more than 300,000 vision correction procedures, helping hundreds of thousands of patients achieve greater visual freedom.

About the Role

As an Optometrist at IQ Laser Vision, you'll play a vital role in providing comprehensive eye care while guiding patients through their vision correction journey. You'll perform comprehensive eye examinations, evaluate candidacy for procedures such as LASIK, ZEISS SMILE, EVO ICL, and Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE), and provide pre- and post-operative care to ensure outstanding clinical outcomes.

This is more than a traditional optometry position, it's an opportunity to educate, inspire, and build lasting relationships with patients as they make life-changing decisions about their vision. You'll work in a collaborative, patient-focused environment where clinical excellence, innovation, and exceptional service are at the core of everything we do.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform refractive surgery evaluations and assess patients for surgical candidacy
  • Conduct and interpret diagnostic testing, including manifest and cycloplegic refractions, IOP, corneal topography/tomography, pachymetry, and ocular surface evaluations.
  • Analyze diagnostic test results to create customized treatment plans
  • Administer and prescribe medications to assist in diagnosis and treat certain ocular conditions
  • Offer pre- and post-operative care for refractive surgery patients and others undergoing ocular procedures: LASIK, PRK, SMILE, EVO ICL, RLE, Pterygium removal
  • Identify ocular manifestations of systemic conditions (e.g., diabetes, hypertension) and refer patients to other healthcare providers as necessary
  • Collaborate with a team of professionals to ensure high-quality patient care
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Practice & Patient Volume

  • Average 14–22 patient encounters per day, consisting primarily of refractive surgery consultations, pre-operative evaluations, post-operative visits, and surgical follow-ups.
  • No routine comprehensive eye exams or ongoing medical disease management; the practice focuses exclusively on refractive and vision correction procedures.

Technology & Clinical Support:

  • Tech support available across all clinic locations
  • Access to advanced diagnostic and imaging equipment, including AR, Pentacam, OCT, IOLMaster 500 & 700, and Optos

Training & Development:

  • Collaborative clinical environment with multiple ODs and MDs available to support learning and professional growth
  • Hands-on onboarding with direct training and shadowing during the first few months
  • Opportunity to begin seeing patients sooner based on readiness and comfort level

Weekly Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, rotating Tuesday-Sat once a month (to be set in advance)
  • Santa Clara: 3-4 days per week on average
  • San Ramon: 1 day per week on average, up to 2 days maximum
