Responsibilities

• Greet patients warmly, verify their appointment details, and assist with intake procedures to ensure a positive experience from the moment they walk in
• Collect health information to support accurate ophthalmic examinations
• Prepare patients for eye exams by explaining procedures, assisting with ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment like autorefractor, Opto Map, OCT, and tonometry devices, and ensuring proper positioning
• Operate medical equipment safely and accurately, including ophthalmic diagnostic tools and electronic health records systems
• Maintain patient confidentiality by adhering strictly to HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies during all interactions and documentation processes
• Manage medical records efficiently, ensuring accurate documentation of patient histories, exam results, and treatment plans in EHR systems
• Provide excellent patient service by addressing questions, scheduling follow-up appointments, and supporting patients through their eye care journey

Qualifications

• Prior experience in medical office settings or ophthalmology clinics is highly preferred
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy related to the eye, and physiology principles relevant to ophthalmic patient examinations
• Familiarity with ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment such as autorefractor, Opto map, OCT and tonometers is advantageous
• Ability to perform direct patient care including taking vital signs and assisting during ophthalmic assessments like eye refraction and visual acuity testing
• Experience operating medical equipment safely while maintaining aseptic technique standards to prevent infection or contamination
• Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) management systems and familiarity with retail math for billing or inventory tasks is a plus
• Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient service, professionalism, and maintaining clinical confidentiality at all times

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
