Job Summary And Qualifications The OR scheduler will communicate with physician’s office staff and physicians to accurately schedule procedures with all pertinent information. The OR scheduler will complete daily logs and make corrections as necessary. Collateral responsibilities may include verifications, input to financial reports, and routing of daily schedules. He/she must possess a high level of competency in basic computer skills.

• Books appointments on a daily basis assuring accuracy and completeness.
• Schedules all elective surgery; avoids conflict in schedule; assures that special equipment, supplies and rooms are available.
• Reviews completed schedules daily to improve flow of OR schedule. Works with Charge nurse as appropriate to facilitate the OR schedule.
• Updates booking guides, physician times and other data elements when necessary; notifies Physician’s office of time changes; alerts appropriate personnel of questionable bookings.
• Assumes a leadership role in building OR case volume and physician office relationships.
• Reviews block utilization on a weekly and monthly basis; sends out monthly utilization letters to Surgeon’s offices.
