Detailed Responsibilities

Database Administration & Maintenance

• Manage, install, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MS SQL databases.
• Ensure database availability, reliability, and optimal performance.

Backup, Recovery & Disaster Recovery Management

• Configure and monitor database backups.
• Perform database restorations, Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR), and Disaster Recovery (DR) testing.
• Ensure compliance with RPO/RTO objectives.

Performance Monitoring & Optimization

• Monitor database health and performance metrics.
• Troubleshoot and optimize queries, indexes, execution plans, and storage utilization.
• Conduct capacity planning and performance tuning.

High Availability, Incident Management & Support

• Manage replication, clustering, Oracle Data Guard, and SQL Server Always on Availability Groups (AOAG).
• Act as the L3 escalation point for critical database incidents.
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and resolve complex database issues.

Database Security, Automation & Change Management

• Implement database security, RBAC, auditing, and compliance controls.
• Execute upgrades, migrations, and schema changes.
• Develop automation scripts and maintain technical documentation and SOPs

Skill Requirements

Technical Skills

Database Platforms:

• Oracle Database Administration (including RMAN, RAC, Data Guard, ASM, OEM Cloud Control)
• Microsoft SQL Server (2016/2019/2022, AOAG, SSMS, performance tuning, backup & restore)
• PostgreSQL (replication, streaming replication, PITR, pgAdmin, performance tuning)
• MySQL (replication, clustering, backup & recovery, performance optimization)

Operating Systems:

• Proficiency in Linux and Windows Administration

Backup Solutions:

• Experience with PPDM, Veeam, NetBackup or similar platforms

Scripting & Automation:

• Strong skills in PowerShell, Shell scripting, SQL scripts, and Python

Frameworks & Best Practices:

• Familiarity with ITIL processes for Incident, Problem, and Change Management

Educational Background & Certifications

• 8 - 10 Years of relevant Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)

• Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)

• Microsoft SQL Server Certifications

• PostgreSQL Professional Certification

• MySQL Database Administrator Certification

• ITIL Foundation Certification
