Oral Surgery Assistant

Duties

• Prepare treatment rooms with dental instruments, surgical supplies, and sterilized equipment in accordance with infection prevention management and aseptic techniques.
• Assist oral surgeons during procedures such as extractions, implant placements, biopsies, and other surgical interventions by handing instruments, managing suction, and maintaining a clear operative field.
• Operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners to capture accurate medical imaging necessary for diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Manage patient flow efficiently by scheduling appointments, updating medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, and ensuring all documentation complies with HIPAA regulations.
• Take vital signs, review medical histories, and assess patient comfort levels to ensure safety and optimal care during procedures.
• Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive medical documentation and records with precision.
• Support general dentistry procedures when needed, including chairside assisting for pediatric dentistry or prosthodontics cases, ensuring smooth workflow and excellent patient experiences.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a dental assistant or in a similar dental clinic setting with knowledge of dental terminology and clinical procedures.
• Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for efficient patient management.
• Strong understanding of infection control practices including dental sterilization procedures and healthcare infection prevention protocols.
• Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray units, intraoral cameras, and 3D scanners while adhering to safety standards.
• Knowledge of anatomy relevant to oral surgery procedures along with proficiency in medical terminology.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with dentists, patients, and team members such as dental receptionists.
• Certifications in dental assisting, radiography (dental x-ray), or related fields are highly desirable.
• Commitment to maintaining clinical confidentiality policies and adhering to OSHA standards for infection prevention management.

Pay: $22.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40.0 per week
