Oral Surgery Assistant

Duties

• Prepare treatment rooms with necessary dental instruments, surgical supplies, and sterilized equipment prior to procedures.
• Assist the oral surgeon during surgeries by handing instruments, managing suction, and ensuring optimal visibility and access.
• Take and develop dental X-rays and 3D scans using advanced imaging technology to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Manage patient records accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records), ensuring compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies.
• Monitor vital signs and patient comfort throughout procedures, providing reassurance and post-operative instructions as needed.
• Maintain strict infection prevention protocols through proper sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques to ensure a safe clinical environment.
• Support patient management by scheduling appointments, updating medical histories, and providing education on oral surgery procedures.

Requirements

• Proven experience assisting in oral surgery for 3 plus years
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to oral surgery procedures.
• Proficiency with dental equipment including X-ray machines, dental sterilizers, 3D scanners, and patient management EMR.
• Familiarity with infection control standards, dental sterilization procedures, and healthcare infection prevention practices.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients of all ages, compassionate, caring chairside manner
• OMSA Certification a plus

Pay: $27.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36.0 – 40.0 per week

• Oral surgery: 3 years (Required)

License/Certification:

• BLS Certification (Required)
• OMSA Certification (Preferred)
