What they need

Scott Farms is a family-owned and operated business managing around 60 hectares of orchards alongside our dairy farms. We're looking for a hands-on, reliable individual to help maintain the property and keep operations running smoothly day to day working with a mixture of building and property maintenance as well as machinery and operating responsibilities.

Join a small family business where you will become a key part of the team. This role is situated in Pongakawa, Bay of Plenty and all work is local to the area.

The Role

This is a varied, hands-on role that is suited to someone who's comfortable using their initiative to see where priorities are and then getting stuck into the physical work themselves. You'll be the go-to person across the orchards where you will operate machinery, carry out general orchard maintenance and direct small teams of seasonal workers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Work alongside the owners and current operations manager to maintain and improve the orchard maintenance which will include mowing, mulching and repair work.
  • Problem solving and planning, where you can get ahead of the required maintenance and upkeep.
  • Orchard maintenance — fencing repairs, maintaining water/irrigation systems, and other general upkeep
  • General orchard work as needed, supporting the wider team through the season especially during harvest
  • Acting as a key point of contact between the owners and the orchard team

About You

  • Experience working in orchards, horticulture, or a similar agricultural setting, potentially someone who has grown up on a farm or in an agri or orchard background
  • Confident operating tractors and farm machinery and someone who is a natural at getting things done
  • Practical, hands-on skills — comfortable fixing fencing, water systems, and general maintenance
  • Natural ability to organise and lead a team, with a calm and practical approach
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and happy to muck in wherever needed
  • A full driver's license (tractor/machinery experience essential)
  • A degree in Horticulture is a nice to have, but not required

Why Join Us

  • Work for a small, family-run business where you're valued as more than just a number
  • Work directly alongside the owners — a close-knit, supportive team environment
  • Become the go-to person for the orchard operation, with real ownership over your work
  • Varied work with an autonomy to deliver
