Orchard Supervisor - Avocado/Lemon/Mango

About the role

The Orchard Supervisor reports directly to the Orchard Manager and supports the overall supervision of staff and daily farming operations. A key focus of this role is ensuring adherence to WH&S practices. This is a hands-on position that involves active field work and engagement as well as administrative duties when required.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and train staff and contractors ensuring set work schedules are met within budget and company guidelines
• Ensure compliance with all aspects of WH&S and quality standards
• Monitor efficiency targets are being met and operational procedures are being adhered to
• Ensure inductions are completed and being adhered to
• Participate hands-on in day-to-day farming operations including field work and practical tasks
• Deliver toolbox talks to staff as required
• Monitor irrigation and oversee the irrigation schedule in conjunction with the Orchard Manager and irrigation staff
• Maintain accurate farming records and assist with administrative duties including irrigation records and spray diaries
• Report any unsafe work practices, damages to plant, tools or equipment, and any incident, accident or near miss
• Demonstrate a high-level understanding of WH&S practices and lead by example

About you

• Minimum 5 years' experience working on a large-scale Orchard or Station
• Minimum 2 years' experience working in a similar supervisory role in the horticultural industry
• A valid driver's licence
• Willingness to participate in any relevant training courses required
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to foster relationships
• Ability to work shift work, weekends and be on call during peak seasons
