Orchard Supervisor

At Southern Cross Horticulture our goal is to develop and manage the world’s best Kiwifruit Orchards.

To deliver on this, we require the best people to ensure our high standards are held across all our out Orchards. We have exciting opportunities for Supervisors to join our team and grow a career in Horticulture.

In this role you will lead and supervise a team of around 12 Orchard workers. Our workers come from all different backgrounds and cultures from RSE to backpackers and hard-working local kiwis. You will lead from the front, setting the standard of how our Orchards should be, and you will help grow your people in your team, creating an enjoyable workplace for them to attend daily.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assisting your Orchard Manager to lead orchard planning, canopy fill, and crop yield performance
• Oversee health, safety, and GAP compliance on site
• Building strong customer relationships and exceeding expectations
• Driving a culture of excellence, safety, and continuous improvement
• Supervise seasonal and temporary staff, ensuring quality of work and positive culture of our Orchards
• Hands on work, teaching how to prune, pick and manage the crop

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’re expected to lead from the front and work the Orchards while supervising your team.

Who we're looking for:

We are looking for people who love the outdoors and who want to forge a career in Horticulture. Your background will ideally have;

• A form of Agricultural or Horticultural studies
• Orchard experience, ideally leading a group of workers
• Hands on experience working with kiwifruit, with a good understanding of how to work the vines
• A committed attitude with an aspiration to grow and be the best you can be
• The ability to take on advice and learn from your Orchard Manager – We have high standards and we do things differently at SCH
