Ordinary Ship's Assistant

The Position

We are seeking Ordinary Ship’s Assistants to join our offshore fleet.

As an Ordinary Ship’s Assistant in ESVAGT, you will be part of a structured training position designed to prepare you for a future maritime career. You will join a professional and supportive onboard environment, where experienced colleagues will guide and support your development.

The role offers a varied working day, combining practical training with hands-on experience across deck operations. You will actively participate in onboard routines and gain insight into different areas of the vessel, including deck, engine room, and bridge, before choosing your future career path.

Your primary tasks will include, but are not limited to:

• Participation in daily maintenance tasks such as cleaning and painting
• Active participation in safety drills including firefighting, first aid, and rescue boat operations (FRB)
• Assisting with general deck operations
• Supporting onboard activities in cooperation with the crew
• Participating in structured training and development activities

Qualifications

We expect that you:

• Demonstrate a strong interest in a maritime career
• Have the motivation to contribute to safety, rescue, and emergency preparedness at sea
• Are able to communicate in Danish and English, both written and spoken
• Demonstrate a strong focus on safety
• Are eager to learn and develop your skills

Certificates:

• Have completed or hold a valid basic maritime training as an Ordinary Ship’s Assistant
• Hold a valid medical certificate and passport (seafarer’s discharge book is an advantage)
• Basic Safety Training and Firefigthing (STCW A-VI/1-1 + STCW A-VI/1-2)

The position is part of a 4‑week rotation scheme, where two employees share the position, ensuring continuity and a balanced work–life structure.
