About the role

We’re looking for an Organisational Development Coordinator to help create great learning and people experiences for kaimahi across Porirua City Council. As our Organisational Development Coordinator, you’ll support the delivery of learning, culture, engagement and capability-building initiatives across Council.

In this role, you’ll be:

  • Coordinating learning, culture, engagement and capability-building initiatives

  • Creating and maintaining engaging e-learning modules and learning resources
  • Organising internal workshops, training sessions and events
  • Managing documentation, records and information flow to support smooth day-to-day operations
  • Supporting OD projects with communications, data collation and implementation tasks
  • Providing helpful, responsive support to kaimahi and managers
  • Coordinating development opportunities such as mentoring and study programmes
  • Supporting wider organisational development activities as needed

You don’t need experience in every area, we value transferable skills, potential and a growth mindset.

While this is a full-time role, were open to considering 30 hours per week or more for the right applicant.

About you

You’re someone who thrives on organisation, enjoys working with people and takes pride in delivering high-quality work. You’ll also bring:

  • Strong planning, coordination and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • An interest in learning, organisational development and creating positive employee experiences
  • The ability to build strong working relationships and provide excellent customer service
  • Clear and confident written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
  • A continuous improvement mindset and willingness to find better ways of working
  • Initiative and problem-solving skills, with the ability to spot issues early and respond appropriately
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to support others
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and the ability to learn new systems quickly
  • Professionalism, sound judgement and discretion when handling sensitive information
  • An appreciation of Te Ao Māori, support for the use of tikanga and te reo Māori, and recognition of the importance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Confidence presenting or facilitating to small groups would be an advantage

If you’ve gained these skills through work, volunteering, study, community involvement, or life experience, we want to hear about it.

What you need to do now

You’ll be part of a supportive, collaborative team that’s passionate about creating a positive and engaging workplace. This is a great opportunity to grow your OD career while contributing to meaningful work that supports our people and community.
