Role Overview

My client is looking for an experienced Senior Oro Developer with strong Oro

functional knowledge to join our Enterprise Applications team.

Role: Senior Oro Developer

Location: Bangalore - Remote

Type - Contract

Must have: ORO Platform/ OROcommerce

This is primarily a hands-on Oro development role, but we are looking for someone who also

understands the functional capabilities of the Oro platform and can work across both technical

and functional areas.

A key objective of the role is to help client build greater internal ownership of the

Oro platform and progressively take on more of the platform management currently provided by our Oro vendor.

The successful candidate will work closely with the existing vendor, Product Managers,

Engineering teams and business stakeholders to understand the current implementation,

transfer knowledge internally, support the existing platform and deliver future enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

Oro Development & Technical Ownership

The primary focus of the role will be Oro development and technical ownership.

● Develop, maintain and enhance our Oro implementation.

● Understand the existing Oro architecture, customisations and integrations.

● Develop Oro extensions, custom functionality and integrations.

● Investigate and resolve defects and production issues.

● Review code and technical solutions delivered by the Oro vendor.

● Review and challenge vendor technical estimates and proposed implementation

approaches.

● Support APIs and integrations between Oro and other enterprise applications.

● Support releases, deployments and production operations.

● Identify and address technical debt, performance and maintainability issues.

● Improve automated testing, technical documentation and operational runbooks.

● Help establish internal Oro engineering standards and development practices.

Oro Functional Capability

While primarily a developer, the successful candidate should also have good Oro functional

knowledge and be comfortable working directly with Product and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities will include:

● Understand how Oro functionality supports our business processes.

● Understand Oro configuration, workflows, business rules and standard platform

capabilities.

● Work with Product Managers and business stakeholders to understand requirements.

● Help translate business requirements into appropriate Oro solutions.

● Determine whether requirements can be delivered through standard Oro

functionality/configuration or require custom development.

● Support backlog refinement and solution design.

● Support UAT and release readiness.

● Assist with functional investigation of production issues.

● Challenge vendor functional solutions where appropriate.

We are not looking for a pure Functional Consultant. The successful candidate should be an

experienced Oro developer who has developed sufficient functional expertise to work

comfortably across both areas.

Vendor Transition & Knowledge Transfer

An important part of the role will be helping company to increase its internal capability and

reduce its dependency on the existing Oro vendor.

The successful candidate will:

● Work closely with the vendor to complete structured technical and functional knowledge

transfer.

● Build a detailed understanding of the existing implementation.

● Ensure important platform knowledge is documented and retained internally.

● Independently assess vendor solutions and estimates.

● Review vendor deliverables and code quality.

● Take increasing ownership of support, troubleshooting and enhancements.

● Help determine which activities can be managed internally and where specialist vendor

support continues to add value.

The objective is not necessarily to eliminate the vendor, but to ensure that cleint

has sufficient internal expertise to own and manage the Oro platform effectively.

Required Experience

We are looking for someone with strong hands-on experience with OroPlatform and/or

OroCommerce, ideally within a complex enterprise environment.

Strong technical experience with:

● OroPlatform / OroCommerce development

● PHP

● Symfony

● Doctrine ORM

● Oro bundles and extensions

● Oro workflows and configuration

● REST APIs and enterprise integrations

● SQL and database development

● Git

● CI/CD

● Automated testing

● Debugging and performance optimisation

● Production support and troubleshooting

Functional experience with:
