Responsibilities

• Red Mill- Monday to Thursday, Friday- Portsmouth
• Assist orthodontists during patient procedures, including bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance management with precision and care.
• Prepare treatment areas by sterilizing dental instruments and ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly in accordance with infection prevention management and aseptic techniques.
• Take and develop dental x-rays and 3D scans, accurately documenting findings in electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA privacy policies.
• Educate patients on orthodontic procedures, oral hygiene practices, and post-treatment care to foster compliance and positive experiences.
• Manage clinical documentation including medical records, medical coding, and dental terminology to ensure accuracy and confidentiality.
• Support infection control protocols by following dental sterilization procedures and maintaining a clean, safe environment aligned with healthcare infection prevention standards.
• Coordinate with the dental reception team for appointment scheduling, patient check-in/out, and billing processes related to orthodontic treatments.
• Monitor vital signs when necessary to ensure patient safety during procedures involving oral surgery or sedation.
• Assist with general dentistry tasks when needed, including pediatric dentistry support, endodontics, prosthodontics, or oral surgery procedures.
• Stay updated on the latest clinical techniques such as using a four-handed dentistry approach to enhance efficiency during patient care.

Experience

• Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred; familiarity with dental assisting roles involving orthodontics is a plus.
• Proficiency in EMR systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Orthotrac or Edge for managing medical documentation and records.
• Knowledge of dental x-ray techniques, including digital imaging and 3D scanner operation.
• Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge related to oral structures, and clinical confidentiality policies.
• Experience with infection prevention management practices such as aseptic technique and dental sterilization procedures.
• Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining high standards of clinical confidentiality policies and healthcare infection control expertise.
• Excellent communication skills for educating patients across pediatric dentistry or general dentistry contexts while demonstrating professionalism in all interactions.

Pay: From $23.00 per hour
