OS Hardening Engineer - 6 months

• 6 month contract
• Hobart/Melbourne based - hybrid working
• Strong experience administering Windows Server and Linux environments
• Hands-on Puppet experience

Are you an experienced Infrastructure Engineer with a strong background in Windows, Linux and security hardening? We are seeking an experienced OS Hardening Engineer to support a large-scale initiative focused on improving the security posture of an enterprise server environment. 

Responsibilities

• Implement CIS Benchmark Level 1 hardening standards across Windows and Linux server environments.
• Develop, update and test Puppet code to automate security configuration changes.
• Manage code changes through Git and GitHub pull requests.
• Assess the impact of security controls on applications and services.
• Troubleshoot issues relating to authentication, permissions, services, networking and logging.
• Support testing, validation and phased deployment activities.
• Document exceptions, testing outcomes and operational considerations.

Essential Criteria

• Strong experience administering Windows Server and Linux environments.
• Hands-on Puppet experience, including roles and profiles, Hiera and code reviews.
• Practical Git/GitHub experience including branching, pull requests and version control.
• Previous experience delivering OS hardening, security uplift or server baseline projects.
• Strong troubleshooting capabilities across enterprise server environments.
