OS/Kernel Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement OS kernel/core architecture and hardware-abstraction layers.
• Own process/thread scheduling, memory management, IPC, power states, boot flow and system services.
• Define OS interfaces required by the Snapdragon 8 Elite platform.
• Build secure boot, update, recovery and system-integrity mechanisms with the security architecture.
• Work closely with the BSP/driver engineer on hardware enablement.
• Design multi-panel resource management and foundations for seamless phone/workstation modes.
• Establish performance, reliability, logging and crash-diagnostics infrastructure.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong C/C++ systems programming
• ARM64 architecture and low-level debugging
• Kernel/RTOS/Linux/QNX or comparable OS internals
• Bootloaders, device trees/firmware concepts and IPC
• Memory management, scheduling and power management
• Git, CI/CD, debugging and hardware bring-up

Prototype Success Criteria

• OS core boots reliably on target hardware.
• Core services operate with stable IPC, memory and power management.
• System supports the Quence three-panel architecture at the OS level.
• Secure boot, recovery and update mechanisms are implemented.
• Performance and crash diagnostics are measurable and repeatable.

Preferred / Advantageous Experience

• ARM64/Snapdragon experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience with a new OS, embedded Linux, Android framework internals, QNX or similar is valuable.
• Must be comfortable working directly with hardware engineers and undocumented/partially documented platform
