Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated OSP Fiber Splicer to join our dynamic telecommunications team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, splicing, and maintenance of outdoor fiber optic networks, ensuring seamless connectivity for our clients. Your expertise will help deliver reliable high-speed internet and communication services by performing precise fiber optic splicing, troubleshooting, and network upgrades in outdoor environments. Duties

• Perform fiber optic cable splicing, termination, and testing in outdoor settings following industry standards and safety protocols.
• Operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks, cranes, and other construction machinery to access work sites safely.
• Use diagnostic tools and telecommunications testing equipment to verify network integrity and troubleshoot issues efficiently.
• Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering plans to accurately install and maintain fiber optic systems.
• Conduct telecommunications outside plant operations including cable installation, repair, and maintenance of fiber optic networks.
• Climb poles, ladders, and other structures safely to access overhead infrastructure while adhering to the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).
• Support network infrastructure projects involving LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), Ethernet, telephony systems, and low voltage electrical work.

Requirements

• Proven experience in field service roles with outdoor work environments involving fiber optic systems installation and maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of telecommunications cable splicing, fiber splicing techniques, and troubleshooting fiber optic networks.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks and power tools safely and effectively.
• Familiarity with telecommunication testing equipment including voltmeters, OTDRs (Optical Time Domain Reflectometers), and other diagnostic tools.
• Experience interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and computer networking concepts related to fiber optics and IT infrastructure.
• Construction experience with climbing poles or towers required; comfort working at heights essential.
• Technical proficiency in electrical systems, low voltage wiring, Ethernet cabling, and network infrastructure deployment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to support engineering troubleshooting efforts promptly.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to pass background checks as required for outdoor utility work.
