OTA Testing

Activities Description：

• Develop comprehensive test strategies and plans covering the entire OTA (Over-The-Air) process, including functional, performance, reliability, security, and compatibility testing.
• Design edge, exception, and boundary test scenarios, such as upgrade interruptions, network fluctuations, low battery, version compatibility, and upgrade rollback.
• Set up and maintain vehicle OTA test environments, including in-vehicle networks (CAN/LIN/Ethernet), TCU/T-Box, gateways, and various ECUs.
• Conduct end-to-end testing, covering cloud-based task distribution, network communication (4G/5G/Wi-Fi) at the transmission layer, and the full vehicle-side process (download, verification, installation, activation, and reporting).
• Perform vehicle-level OTA functional, integration, and regression testing.
• Accurately identify and document defects discovered during testing, and create JIRA tickets.
• Collaborate with software development, cloud development, and systems engineers for issue troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• Prepare detailed test reports, provide quality metrics and risk assessments to support project decision-making.
• Develop and maintain OTA automated test scripts and tools (e.g., using Python) to automate test case execution and improve testing efficiency.
• Proficiently use CANoe/CANalyzer, diagnostic tools (e.g., UDS), and network packet capture tools
• Understand and test security mechanisms in the OTA process, such as digital signatures, encrypted transmission, secure boot, and anti-rollback.
• Work closely with cloud development, vehicle software, electrical/electronic architecture, quality, and after-sales teams to drive OTA quality closure.

Deliverables：

Technical release recommendation of the whole vehicle through specific vehicle testing including durability and extreme environmental conditions according to VW standard test procedures. Test results and failures must be analyzed and solved in coordination with other areas within R&D and Joint ventures. Following up of counter measures. Weekly reporting of the Module Status

Role Definition and Requirement：

Education And Experience

• Must have driver license, at least 5 years of driving experience and PT driver license.
• Bachelor’s degree or above, VW work experience will be a plus
• At least 1 year of experience, Experience with vehicle OTA, T-Box/TCU, gateway, or embedded system testing is preferred. Technical Skills:
• In-depth understanding of OTA system architecture and principles. Familiarity with AUTOSAR architecture is a plus.
• Proficiency with in-vehicle network protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet, SOME/IP) and automotive diagnostic protocols (UDS).
• Familiarity with network communication protocols such as TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, and MQTT.
• Familiar with debugging commands such as ADB.
• Proficiency in Linux system operations and scripting (Shell/Python) for automated testing.
• Strong logical analysis and complex problem-solving skills.
• English proficiency sufficient for workplace communication. Soft Skills:

• High sense of responsibility, attention to detail, and a commitment to product quality.
• Strong stress tolerance and learning agility, with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced technical environment. Must have driver license and VW group PT driver license .
