Working closely with Job Managers, Technical Coordinators, and teams across the Distribution business, you'll review, coordinate, and support planned outage requests while identifying opportunities to optimise outage schedules and improve network performance. You'll provide expert technical guidance, support switching planning activities, and play a key role in maintaining the integrity, reliability, and security of our network.
If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders, and take pride in driving operational excellence, this is your opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to a critical service that powers communities every day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and continuously improve planned outage management processes, systems, and procedures.
- Review, coordinate, and support planned outage requests while optimising outage-sharing opportunities.
- Review and coordinate switching planning and switching schedule development.
- Provide technical expertise and support for outage methodologies and complex outage requests.
- Ensure planned outages achieve customer and business objectives relating to reliability (SAIDI, SAIFI, CAIDI), safety, quality, and cost.
- Coordinate with customers and stakeholders, including managing critical customer outage requirements and generation policies.
- Monitor, track, and report planned outage performance against KPIs.
- Build strong relationships across internal teams and customer organisations to drive service improvements.
- Conduct audits, investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives, including lessons learned from outage events.
- Deliver training and guidance on outage management best practices.
- Maintain compliance, accurate records, reporting, and up-to-date knowledge of health, safety, and outage management requirements.
Qualifications and Skills
- A trade qualification in Distribution is essential.
- A tertiary qualification related to Engineering, Management or Leadership is preferred.
- 10+ years’ experience in distribution network installation, switching, and maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of electrical industry regulations and prescribed electrical work requirements.
- Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder relationship management experience.
- Proven leadership ability, with a collaborative approach to coaching and mentoring others.
- Experience developing outage management strategies and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ability to conduct audits, investigations, and facilitate learning and improvement programmes.
- Advanced computer, planning, and organisational skills.
