What they need

Lead the overnight team that gets real, fresh food ready for our customers' doors, every time.

Yellow Picnic is a fresh meal prep delivery company built on real ingredients and restaurant techniques. We cook with no seed oils and no preservatives, and we're growing fast. We're a small, tight team, and you'll hear our owners in the kitchen, not behind a desk. We're looking for an Overnight Kitchen Supervisor who takes pride in a clean, well-run, on-time production floor and who wants to help build something, not just clock in.

The Role

You'll run overnight production across three connected teams: kitchen, plating, and bagging. You own the flow from raw ingredients to a labeled, bagged meal ready for delivery. This is an overnight leadership role. You'll run the floor while most of the city sleeps, with the independence to make calls and keep production moving, and you'll hand off a clean, on-pace kitchen to the morning team.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and coach the kitchen, plating, and bagging teams each shift, setting clear priorities and keeping people on pace

  • Keep production moving. Spot bottlenecks early, rebalance the team, and make sure nothing stalls between stages

  • Improve productivity and efficiency by tightening workflows, cutting waste and rework, and tracking output against daily targets

  • Own food safety on your shift: sanitizer buckets set up and changed regularly, labeling and dating, cooling and temperature logs, walk-in organization, and clean carts and surfaces

  • Make sure every meal is made, portioned, plated, bagged, and labeled correctly. Customer service starts on our floor

  • Run walk-throughs and sign-offs, such as the food request log, with the plating and kitchen teams

  • Train new hires and hold the team to our written kitchen standards, fairly and consistently

  • Lead with calm and kindness. We speak to each other respectfully, and we expect our supervisors to set that tone

  • Partner with ops and ownership on staffing, ordering, supplies, equipment issues, and repairs

  • Step in wherever the team needs you. We're a startup, and nobody here says "that's not my job"

What Success Looks Like

In your first 30 days: you know our recipes, standards, and logs, you've built relationships with each team, and you're running shifts confidently.

By 60 days: production is on pace, food-safety logs are complete every shift, and you've identified two or three efficiency improvements.

By 90 days: you're the person the team turns to. Output, quality, and cleanliness are consistently strong, and you're helping shape how we grow.

What We're Looking For

Must have:

  • Bilingual English/Spanish. You'll give instructions, training, and safety direction to a team that includes Spanish speakers, and you'll complete English-language logs and reports

  • 2+ years supervising or leading teams in food production, commissary, catering, meal prep, or high-volume kitchens

  • Solid working knowledge of food safety: sanitizing, cross-contamination, cooling, labeling, and temperature control

  • Ability to run a fast production line while staying organized and calm under pressure

  • A track record of improving a process, not just following one

  • Clear, respectful communication with team members at every level

  • Reliable overnight availability and a strong attendance record

  • Ability to stand for long shifts, lift 50 lbs, and work in a cold production environment

Nice to have:

  • ServSafe Food Protection Manager certification (or willingness to get it, which we'll support)

  • Experience with production scheduling, inventory, or waste tracking

  • Experience in a startup or fast-growth environment

Schedule

Overnight, four 12-hour shifts or five 10-hour shifts per week. This is a hands-on, high-energy role in a cold, fast-paced production kitchen. The right person likes a steady overnight rhythm and takes pride in running their own shift.

Pay and Benefits

$22.00 per hour, with overtime paid at time-and-a-half for hours over 40 per week. Paid time off after 3 months of employment.

Why Yellow Picnic

  • Real ownership. You'll shape how our kitchen runs, not just carry out someone else's system

  • Room to grow as the company grows

  • A team culture built on respect and kindness

  • Owners who are present, who listen, and who care about doing this right

  • Food we're proud of, made with real ingredients

Yellow Picnic is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds.

Expected hours: 48.0 per week

Benefits:

  • Paid time off
