Package Handler

Responsibilities

• Load and unload shipments using material handling equipment such as forklifts and RF scanners to ensure safe and accurate movement of goods.
• Sort packages by destination, size, weight, or shipment type, utilizing shipment sorting procedures and automatic inserting machines when applicable.
• Operate warehouse equipment safely, including forklifts and other material handling tools, adhering to safety protocols at all times.
• Perform manual handling tasks involving heavy lifting, bending, and stacking packages to prepare items for shipment or storage.
• Assist with shipping and receiving activities, verifying shipment contents against documentation and updating data entry systems accordingly.
• Support mail distribution processes by processing incoming and outgoing mail, ensuring proper filing and documentation.
• Maintain organized warehouse areas through effective organizational skills, ensuring materials are stored correctly for easy access during operations.
• Use Microsoft Office tools for record keeping, data entry, and reporting purposes related to warehouse activities.
• Conduct outdoor work as needed for yard inspections or shipment pickups, maintaining safety standards in all environments.

Skills

• Proven experience operating warehouse equipment such as forklifts, RF scanners, and automatic inserting machines.
• Strong knowledge of warehouse distribution processes, materials handling techniques, and shipping & receiving procedures.
• Ability to perform manual handling tasks involving heavy lifting with proper technique to prevent injury.
• Basic math skills for counting inventory, measuring packages, and verifying shipment details accurately.
• Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Customer service orientation when interacting with team members or external partners during shipment processing.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications for data entry, filing, and reporting purposes.
• Outdoor work experience preferred for yard inspections or outdoor logistics tasks.

Pay: $26.30 - $35.06 per hour
