Packaging Assistant

Deese Express Cargo is looking for a careful and dependable Packaging Assistant to help prepare goods for safe storage and transportation. This role involves selecting appropriate packing materials, checking items before they are packed, and making sure each shipment is properly labeled and ready for pickup. The position also includes organizing packing supplies and keeping the work area efficient and orderly. We welcome applicants who are hands-on, willing to learn, and comfortable working as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare boxes, mailers, and other packaging materials based on the size and type of items being shipped.
• Inspect items for obvious damage and compare them with the information provided on order or shipment documents.
• Wrap and cushion products to help prevent movement or damage during transit.
• Seal packages securely and attach the correct shipping labels and handling instructions.
• Group finished packages by destination, carrier, or scheduled dispatch.
• Report damaged items, missing details, or shortages of packing materials to the appropriate team member.
• Break down empty cartons and keep reusable supplies organized.
• Replenish tape, labels, protective wrap, and other materials at packing stations.
• Assist coworkers with preparing larger or multiple-item shipments when needed.
• Maintain a clean work area and follow established safety and handling procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to follow packing instructions and pay attention to details.
• Dependable, punctual, and willing to learn new tasks.
• Ability to work independently and cooperate with team members.
• Basic reading skills for checking labels and shipment information.
• Ability to perform routine packaging tasks while standing and moving around the work area.
• No previous experience required; training provided.

Pay: $22.20 - $23.20 per hour
