Packaging Engineer, China Suzhou

We’re looking for a Packaging Engineer who loves translating customer requirements into practical packaging designs, validating technical solutions and delivering reliable packaging concepts. In this role, you’ll be right at the crossroads of product design, material technology and customer project delivery, helping companies realise robust, cost‑effective packaging solutions. You’ll be based in Suzhou, China, and you will report to Suzhou Engineering Center Manager. You will work closely with sales, production, sourcing colleagues, suppliers and our global organization. Your days will mix packaging solution design, prototype validation, technical testing, cross‑department coordination, customer & supplier communication and system‑based engineering documentation work. You’ll get plenty of ownership of your design projects, but you won’t be on your own – you’ll be part of a supportive, down‑to‑earth team that likes to get things done together.

Your responsibility In this role, you are responsible for end‑to‑end packaging design and technical validation for customer projects, ensuring all deliverables comply with internal design workflows, standards and project budget requirements. You provide technical support for internal and external stakeholders, align design outputs with production feasibility and maintain engineering‑system records.

• Work in line with the design process, drawing manual and NEFAB standard.
• Design the complete packaging solution that meets the requirements from Sales and customer within given parameters and packaging budget etc.
• Be in charge of the solution validation: prototypes, FAI process and fitting/mechanical test.
• Provide technical support to Sales and customers on projects, packaging design, material specifications, packaging instructions, engineering presentations etc.
• Coordinate with production department, sourcing department and/or supplier to ensure the producibility of the design.
• Conduct daily communication with customers and suppliers including site visits.
• Operate NEFAB engineering systems and production systems on daily basis according to design process.
• Perform any other tasks assigned by leader and manager.

Your profile

• Bachelor or Master degree related with Packaging engineering or Mechanical engineering.
• 1‑3 year experience working with CAD programs, either in school or at work. Experience designing with steel, wood, corrugate, foam and/or other traded materials is considered an asset, but not required.
• Mandarin and English with speaking and writing (high mandatory).
• Familiar with 3D and 2D software such as Solidworks, UG, Pro‑E, AutoCAD, AritosCAD, AI, CorelDraw etc.
• Familiar with cardboard, wood, foam and other packaging materials.
• Good learning ability, creative, hard‑working and able to work independently.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and coordinating initiatives in multiple locations.
• Good adaptability and flexible mindset.
• A collaborative mindset and interest in working with multicultural and global teams on shared customer solutions.
