Packaging Engineer

About the role

The Packaging Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and optimizing packaging solutions for new and existing products. This role ensures packaging systems meet quality, safety, regulatory, sustainability, and cost requirements while supporting efficient manufacturing processes and product commercialization. The position collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and manufacturing sites to deliver innovative and competitive packaging solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimize packaging systems, materials, and components for new and existing products, including experience in BOM and packing details
• Identify packaging requirements and deliver solutions that meet product, business, consumer, and manufacturing needs
• Evaluate packaging performance through laboratory testing, validation, and production trials, following technical procedures, standards, and testing methods
• Support packaging technology implementation to ensure stable production and continuous improvement
• Ensure project milestones, timelines, and deliverables are achieved within budget and resource constraints
• Coordinate activities with R&D, Marketing, Procurement, Regulatory, and Supply Chain teams
• Support commercialization activities for new product launches and packaging changes
• Define and maintain packaging material specifications and ensure packaging compatibility
• Troubleshoot packaging-related issues and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve packaging functionality, efficiency, and reliability
• Ensure packaging designs comply with quality standards, safety regulations, and applicable regulatory requirements

About you

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Packaging Engineering, Food Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or related field
• 3-5 years of experience in packaging development, packaging technology, packing processing, manufacturing, or related engineering functions
• Knowledge of packaging materials, packaging machinery, manufacturing processes, and product commercialization
• Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills
• Good interpersonal skills, understanding and able to transfer technical knowledge, project leadership
• Good command of spoken and written English
• Computer literate in MS Office
• Able to work under pressure and skill of negotiation
