What they need
- Design, develop, and implement cost-effective expendable and returnable packaging solutions for raw materials, work-in-process, finished goods, and service parts.
- Translate customer, product, quality, manufacturing, and transportation requirements into packaging specifications and logistics plans.
- Create packaging concepts, layouts, specifications, bills of material, work instructions, and related technical documentation.
- Perform packaging validation, load testing, transportation trials, and risk assessments to confirm product protection, ergonomics, safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Develop and maintain packaging standards, pack quantities, labeling requirements, and a Plan for Every Part (PFEP).
- Optimize material flow, storage locations, line-side presentation, dock activity, warehouse space, and internal transportation routes.
- Analyze freight, packaging, handling, inventory, and labor costs; lead continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Collaborate with customers, suppliers, Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Program Management, and Production Control from concept through launch and steady-state production.
- Support new product launches by defining packaging, transportation, inventory, and material-handling requirements.
- Support production and shipping troubleshooting, containment actions, root cause analysis, and corrective actions related to packaging damage, shortages, labeling, or material flow.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
