Packhouse Worker

WHO WE ARE: Located in Warkworth, just north of Auckland, Southern Paprika Limited (today known as SPL) is New Zealand’s largest single-site glasshouse operation and one of the country’s leading producers of hothouse vegetables. It operates 26 hectares of modern glasshouses on an 86 - hectare site, growing capsicums and tomatoes, alongside a smaller volume of snacking cucumbers. In 2023, SPL became a wholly owned subsidiary of Market Gardeners Limited (MG Group).

THE ROLE:

We have an opportunity for a motivated team player with effective communication skills to join our packhouse team as a Packhouse Worker. You will be learning all tasks in our packhouse operation. You will need to have excellent communication, and a focus on quality and efficiency.

You will be responsible for:

• Prepare packing and materials and stacking cartons or crates on pallets
• Operate the bagging machine
• Operate the bin hoist and bin tipper
• Help the dispatch team to put dispatch orders together
• Provide backup for grading and other positions in the packhouse
• Provide backup tractor driving when the packhouse assistant is away

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE:

• Well-developed efficient communication skills
• Keen to learn, a practical thinker, and shows initiative
• A reasonable level of fitness to meet the demands of a physical and busy role.
• Previous packhouse experience is beneficial but not essential
• Flexibility with hours to deal with our seasonal requirements is a must
