What they need
Job Summary
This role handles the packing side of order fulfillment, turning a pick list into a sealed box ready to ship. You'll gather items, check them against the order, and pack everything with enough material to survive the trip. The day's pace shifts depending on the hour. Mornings tend to be steady, while afternoons near the shipping cutoff bring a rush that means moving faster without letting quality slip. You'll tape boxes shut, print labels, and stage finished packages by carrier for pickup. Watching supply levels falls on you as well, since running short on tape or boxes mid-shift slows down the whole line. Lifting is a regular part of the job, usually in the 20 to 40 pound range. A final scan confirms each package before it leaves, which is what updates the tracking status in our system. Most mistakes get caught at that last check, while there's still time to fix them. The process becomes fairly automatic once you've worked through a handful of shifts. Competitive pay comes with the role, along with a schedule that stays fairly consistent.
Responsibilities
- Gathering items to match the pick list
- Pack orders with material suited to the contents
- Taping boxes shut and printing labels
- Staging finished packages by carrier
- Restock tape, boxes, and labels before they run out
- Scan each package before it ships
- Wiping down the packing station between batches
- Flag wrong quantities or missing items before sealing
Qualifications
- You catch small mismatches, like a miscount or a label that doesn't match the order, even during a busy stretch.
- Raising a concern with a coworker or supervisor is something you handle directly, without much delay.
- When order volume spikes close to a cutoff, you keep working through it instead of losing pace.
- Basic scanning tools and shipping software are things you pick up fairly quickly once shown.
- You're dependable about showing up for your shift, since the line depends on full coverage.
- If a label misprints or a box won't seal, you find a way around it instead of stopping the line.
- Your station tends to stay organized, since you put supplies back where they belong.
- Staying steady when the pace picks up is something you manage without much strain.
