Packing Supervisor – Tea Packing Unit

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Packing Supervisor to manage day-to-day packing operations and supervise workers on the production floor at our tea packing unit in Maheshtala, Kolkata.

The candidate will be responsible for achieving shift-wise production targets while maintaining packing accuracy, product quality, hygiene, safety, and efficient manpower utilisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise packing operators, helpers, and other workers on the shop floor.
• Allocate manpower to packing machines and various packing activities.
• Ensure packing machines operate according to the production plan.
• Monitor hourly production and achieve shift-wise packing targets.
• Regularly check packet weight, sealing, appearance, and overall packing quality.
• Ensure the correct packaging material is used for each SKU.
• Verify batch number, manufacturing/expiry date, MRP, and other printed information.
• Monitor wastage of tea and packaging materials and take corrective action.
• Immediately report machine breakdowns and production-related issues.
• Coordinate with the maintenance team for machine breakdowns and repairs.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the packing area.
• Ensure workers follow food-safety, hygiene, and workplace-safety procedures.
• Maintain accurate shift-wise production and manpower records.
• Report manpower shortages, production delays, quality issues, and other problems to the Packing In-Charge.
• Assist in verification and monitoring of packaging-material stock.
• Ensure proper handling and storage of packed tea and finished cartons.
• Supervise the movement/loading of finished cartons to the finished-goods area.
• Ensure discipline and proper work practices among packing staff.

Candidate Requirements

• 2–5 years of experience in FMCG, food processing, tea packing, or a similar manufacturing environment.
• Previous experience supervising production/packing workers is preferred.
• Good understanding of packing machines and shop-floor operations.
• Ability to monitor production targets and manage manpower effectively.
• Basic knowledge of quality, hygiene, and food-safety practices.
• Ability to maintain production records and communicate issues clearly.
• Should be comfortable working in a production/packing environment.
• Strong supervisory, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Candidates with experience in tea packing or FMCG packing units will be preferred.
