Packing Worker

Origin Earth Sauce company began around the dinner table. A glorious Portuguese chicken sauce sparked the idea. From this we built the factory, started production and the company grew quickly to making more than 290,000kg of sauce annually, distributing to all major cities across Australia.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Packing Worker is responsible for assembling, checking, packaging, and preparing finished goods for sale, ensuring that all packaging components meet Origin Earth’s quality, food safety, and operational standards. This role supports both the packaging and warehouse teams by maintaining accuracy, efficiency, cleanliness, and compliance with company policies and procedures.

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY:

• Product Assembly: Assemble product components into finished goods ready for sale.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure packaging components meet required quality and company specifications.
• Label Verification: Check that all printed information is correct and compliant.
• Warehouse Support: Assist warehouse staff with general warehouse duties as required.
• Cross-Department Support: Provide assistance in other areas of the business when necessary to maintain smooth operations.
• Wastage Recording: Wastage Recording – Accurately record and report any wastage of materials or products.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records and documentation related to production activities
• Teamwork: Work collaboratively with warehouse, production, packaging, and other staff to achieve the best possible operational outcomes

ESSENTIAL SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, AND KNOWLEDGE:

• Previous experience in warehouse or logistics operations preferred but not essential.
• Current forklift licence (desirable but not essential).
• Knowledge of food handling and hygiene practices advantageous.
• Understanding of Workplace Health and Safety procedures (desirable but not essential).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during shifts.
• Able to frequently bend, reach, lift, carry, and handle materials and products.
• Ability to safely lift and move items weighing up to approximately 5–25 kg, where if required by the role.
• Able to perform repetitive hand and arm movements, including packing, labelling, sorting, and operating machinery.
• Able to work in low to moderate noise, with temperature variations, around moving machinery.
• Able to use required personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety footwear, gloves, hearing protection, and eye protection as required.
