What they need
About The Organisation Here at NHS Lanarkshire, we put the patient at the heart of everything we do. Each colleague within the organisation plays a key role in how we deliver our healthcare services.
We proudly serve a population of 655,000 across rural and urban communities in both North and South Lanarkshire. NHS Lanarkshire is comprised of Acute Services (which currently provide hospital based services over 3 main sites), Corporate & Property & Support Services, North and South Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnerships which provide integrated primary healthcare and social care services to local communities and surrounding areas.
The Role Our innovative, forward thinking paediatric dietetic team is looking for someone to join them in this permanent mentored position.
This is an opportunity to be part of an established pan-Lanarkshire paediatric dietetic team based at University Hospital Wishaw. This is an ideal post for anyone who would like an introduction to a range of areas of Paediatric dietetics whilst being trained, supported and mentored by an experienced team. The post will be varied and include enteral feeding, general paediatrics, paediatric diabetes, and there is opportunity to gain experience in gastroenterology, renal, neonatal, allergy and respiratory paediatric dietetics in addition to advancing your digital dietetic skills.
The hospital has good transport links for the Central Belt. These posts are open to applications to part time and fulltime working. Are you working in a different setting or speciality? Further training and support will be available.
In This Key Role, You Will
- To act as an independent practitioner assessing, managing, planning, delivering and evaluating the most appropriate treatment programmes for patients, using appropriate nutritional assessment techniques and equipment, working within established protocols. The post holder decides when it is necessary to refer to his/her manager.
- To receive complex and sensitive information and present this in an understandable form to patients and carers which can include giving unwelcome and difficult to accept information.
- Advise and recommend the use of prescribable preparations and nutritional products for the treatment of patients as appropriate. Ensure supplies of products reach his/her patients through instruction to diet chefs verbally and through maintenance of the diet therapy ordering system. Also, be responsible for reporting any stock discrepancies to the dietetic services manager e.g. out of date stock, reduction in stock items or lack of stock items.
- Keep accurate and concise records of clinical interventions, advice given and outcome decisions taken as per professional code of conduct and departmental guidelines.
What You'll Bring
- Registered Dietitian with valid HCPC Registration
- The post holder will be required to demonstrate excellent team working skills with the ability to work using own initiative
- Effective listening, communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- A driving licence is required; this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
