Promain Construction is looking for an experienced Painter and Decorator to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis. We work on a variety of high-quality residential projects, including new builds, extensions and renovations. The successful candidate will take pride in their work, have excellent attention to detail and produce a consistently high-quality finish.

Key responsibilities

· Complete internal and external painting and decorating work.

· Prepare surfaces by filling, sanding, caulking, cleaning and applying suitable primers.

· Apply paint using brushes, rollers and other appropriate equipment.

· Hang wallpaper and apply other decorative finishes where required.

· Work on walls, ceilings, woodwork, doors, windows and exterior surfaces.

· Carry out both new-build decorating and refurbishment work.

· Protect floors, furniture, fittings and surrounding areas before starting work.

· Accurately estimate the materials required for each task.

· Identify and report defects or additional work required.

· Maintain a clean, safe and organised working area.

· Look after company tools, equipment and materials.

· Work effectively alongside site managers, other trades and subcontractors.

· Complete work within agreed timescales and to the company’s quality standards.

· Communicate politely and professionally with clients when working in occupied properties.

· Follow all site health and safety procedures.

Skills and experience required

· Proven professional experience as a painter and decorator.

· Excellent preparation skills and attention to detail.

· Ability to achieve a high-quality, clean and consistent finish.

· Knowledge of different paints, primers, coatings and application methods.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Reliable, punctual and able to manage workload effectively.

· Respectful when working in clients’ homes and occupied properties.

· Own basic hand tools.

· Full UK driving licence and reliable transport.

· Valid CSCS card, or willingness to obtain one.

Desirable

· Experience working on high-quality residential projects.

· Wallpaper-hanging experience.

· Experience with spraying equipment.

· Relevant painting and decorating qualification, such as an NVQ or City & Guilds.
