We are seeking a motivated, skilled, and reliable Self-Employed Painter & Decorator to join our team and deliver high-quality painting and decorating work across a variety of residential and commercial projects.

The successful candidate will take pride in their workmanship, have excellent attention to detail, and be capable of working independently while taking direction and instruction from the owner to ensure projects are completed to the required standard, specification, and timeframe.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepare surfaces thoroughly, including cleaning, sanding, filling holes, caulking, and applying primers to achieve smooth, professional finishes.
• Carry out painting and decorating work to a consistently high standard.
• Apply paints, varnishes, wallpapers, and other decorative finishes with precision and care.
• Be competent in AMES taping and associated preparation work.
• Wallpaper to a high professional standard, including accurate measuring, cutting, hanging, and finishing.
• Interpret project specifications and follow client requirements and instructions provided by the owner.
• Take daily direction from the owner and work collaboratively to ensure jobs are completed efficiently and to the expected standard.
• Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe working environment at all times.
• Protect furniture, flooring, fixtures, and other areas during preparation and decorating works.
• Travel to various residential and commercial job sites as required, ensuring punctual arrival and appropriate preparation.
• Manage your workload effectively and complete assigned work within agreed deadlines.
• Communicate professionally with the owner, clients, and other trades on site.
• Identify and report any issues, additional work, or materials required to the owner.
• Follow relevant health and safety requirements and company/site procedures.

Requirements

• Time-served or proven experience in painting and decorating.
• Demonstrable experience within residential and/or commercial construction painting and decorating.
• Full, clean UK driving licence.
• Reliable own transportation suitable for travelling to different job sites.
• Own professional painting and decorating tools required.
• Must be competent with AMES taping.
• Able to wallpaper to a high professional standard.
• Strong knowledge of different paints, finishes, wallpapers, preparation methods, and decorating techniques.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality finishes.
• Ability to work independently while following direction and instructions from the owner.
• Reliable, punctual, professional, and able to meet deadlines.
• Good communication skills in English, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, the owner, and other team members.
• Good understanding of health and safety standards relevant to painting and decorating.

Self-Employed Role

This is a self-employed position, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work on a variety of exciting painting and decorating projects. You will be responsible for providing your own tools and transportation and will work under the direction of the owner to ensure each project is completed safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standard.
