Commercial Painter / Painting Helper – Temporary or Part-Time

Wyatt Construct is hiring dependable commercial painters and painting helpers for interior projects based near Grinnell, with occasional travel to other Central and Southeast Iowa jobsites.

Work will take place inside occupied commercial properties. Employees must work cleanly, safely, and professionally around customers and the public.

Responsibilities

• Protect floors, fixtures, furnishings, and equipment.
• Install masking, plastic containment, and work-area barriers.
• Clean, patch, sand, and prepare surfaces.
• Apply primer and finish coats using brushes and rollers.
• Cut clean lines and produce even finishes without runs or excessive mess.
• Move and protect equipment as directed.
• Complete touch-ups and inspect finished work.
• Organize and clean tools, materials, and work areas.
• Follow all jobsite safety and customer-conduct requirements.

Qualifications

• Consistent attendance, on-time arrival, and clear communication.
• Ability to follow directions and work efficiently with a crew.
• Professional behavior and language around customers.
• Ability to report to the assigned jobsite or agreed meeting location.
• Willingness to travel to regional projects when scheduled.
• Ability to stand, bend, reach, use approved ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Must be at least 18 years old because the position may involve ladders, equipment moving, travel, and evening work.
• Must report fit for duty and follow Wyatt Construct’s drug- and alcohol-free workplace requirements.

Professional painting experience is preferred but not required for helper positions. Applicants with experience should describe their ability with surface preparation, masking, cutting, rolling, ceilings, two-coat systems, and occupied commercial projects.

Hours vary by project and may include daytime, evening, or weekend shifts. Hours and continued work are not guaranteed. Dependable employees who consistently produce quality work may be considered for additional projects.
