We are seeking an experienced and skilled Painter to join our team on a permanent full-time basis.

Key Requirements

Qualifications

• AQF Certificate III in Painting and Decorating, including at least two years of on-the-job training; or
• AQF Certificate IV in a relevant field; or
• At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualification.

Work Experience

• At least 1 year of relevant work experience as a Painter or in a closely related field.
• Good knowledge of surface preparation, painting techniques and finishing.
• Ability to use brushes, rollers, spray equipment, ladders and other painting equipment safely.
• Good attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Erect scaffolding and ladders and place drop sheets to protect surrounding areas from paint splattering.
• Prepare surfaces by removing old paint and wallpaper, repairing woodwork, filling holes and cracks, and smoothing and sealing surfaces.
• Select and prepare paints to required colours by mixing pigments, oils and appropriate thinning and drying additives.
• Apply paints, varnishes and stains to surfaces using brushes, rollers and spray equipment.
• Hang wallpaper, match patterns and trim edges where required.
• Clean painting equipment and maintain work areas in a clean and safe condition.
• Repair windows and replace glass in wooden and metal frames where required.
• Inspect completed work and ensure surfaces and finishes meet required quality standards.
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures and use tools and equipment safely.
