Painter

We are looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Painter to join our production team. This position is responsible for preparing, priming, and painting structural steel and fabricated components to meet project specifications and quality standards.

The ideal candidate takes pride in their workmanship, understands the importance of proper surface preparation, and can work efficiently in a fast-paced fabrication environment.

What You'll Do

• Prepare structural steel and fabricated components for painting, including cleaning and surface preparation.
• Set up, operate, clean, and maintain industrial spray painting equipment.
• Apply primers and coatings according to project specifications and shop drawings.
• Read and interpret blueprints, material markings, and painting requirements.
• Inspect painted surfaces and measure coating thickness to ensure quality standards are met.
• Coordinate with production and yard personnel to prioritize work and properly stage finished materials.
• Maintain painting equipment and troubleshoot minor equipment issues.
• Monitor paint, solvent, and coating supply inventory.
• Keep the painting area clean, organized, and safe.
• Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment.
• Accurately record production time and job information.
• Work with other team members to meet production schedules and customer deadlines.
• Assist with other shop activities as needed.

What We're Looking For

• At least 1 year of painting experience, preferably in industrial painting, steel fabrication, or manufacturing.
• Experience with spray painting equipment and coating application.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Basic math and measurement skills.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to maintain painting equipment.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a team.
• Dependable attendance, strong work ethic, and good time-management skills.
• Ability to obtain forklift certification.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and handling materials.
• Comfortable working in an industrial fabrication environment with noise, machinery, dust, and paint fumes.
• Ability to safely use required personal protective equipment, including respiratory protection when required.
• Willingness to work overtime as needed.
