PAM Tech Lead

About the Opportunity

We are partnered with a tech company building a next-generation Identity Access and Secrets Platform that will serve as a critical component of a large-scale cloud and infrastructure ecosystem. This platform will centralize privileged access controls, secrets management, and automated access governance across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.

As the founding Technical Lead, you will play a pivotal role in defining the platform's architecture, engineering direction, and operational standards. This is a greenfield initiative where you will help establish technical foundations, influence product strategy, and build a high-performing engineering team from the ground up.

What You'll Do

Technical Leadership

• Define the long-term architecture and technical roadmap for a centralized Privileged Access Management (PAM) and Secrets Management platform.
• Drive engineering decisions across application development, infrastructure, security, and platform operations.
• Establish coding standards, architecture principles, and engineering best practices.
• Serve as the primary technical authority for the team and guide key architectural discussions.

Platform Development

• Design and build secure access management capabilities including:
• Just-in-Time (JIT) Access
• Zero Standing Privilege (ZSP)
• Emergency Access Workflows
• Role-Based Access Controls (RBAC)
• Centralized Secrets Management
• Integrate identity systems, approval workflows, cloud services, and infrastructure platforms.
• Develop production-grade software and infrastructure automation using modern development and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
• Review technical designs and code to ensure scalability, security, and maintainability.

Security & Reliability

• Establish secure software development lifecycle practices.
• Define standards for audit logging, secrets handling, access governance, monitoring, and incident response.
• Ensure platform resilience through high-availability, disaster recovery, and operational readiness strategies.
• Champion a security-first engineering culture across the team.

Collaboration & Mentorship

• Partner with product, program, security, operations, and infrastructure stakeholders to align technical delivery with business objectives.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, vendors, and platform solutions.
• Mentor engineers across development and platform disciplines.
• Provide guidance during technical escalations and complex problem-solving scenarios.

Team Environment

You will lead a multidisciplinary engineering team consisting of software engineers, platform engineers, and quality specialists. As one of the earliest members of the initiative, you will have significant influence over the platform's direction, technology choices, engineering culture, and future team growth.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or related disciplines.
• Demonstrated technical leadership experience, including mentoring engineers and leading technical initiatives.
• Strong hands-on capabilities across software development, cloud infrastructure, automation, and security engineering.
• Experience working with public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Knowledge of hybrid infrastructure environments spanning cloud and on-premises systems.
• Strong understanding of:
• Identity and Access Management (IAM)
• Single Sign-On (SSO)
• Identity Providers (IdP)
• RBAC
• Zero Trust security models
• Privileged Access concepts
• Experience designing or supporting CI/CD pipelines and platform automation.
• Familiarity with testing strategies, reliability engineering, and quality assurance practices for security-sensitive systems.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with enterprise Privileged Access Management or Secrets Management solutions such as:
• HashiCorp Vault
• CyberArk
• Teleport
• Delinea
• BeyondTrust
• Similar technologies
• Experience building access management, identity security, or platform security solutions from the ground up.
• Knowledge of regulatory, audit, or compliance frameworks within highly regulated industries.
• Experience with Kubernetes and machine-to-machine authentication models.
• Background in platform engineering, cloud security, DevSecOps, or security architecture.
• Experience operating large-scale distributed systems in enterprise environments.
