What they need

Purpose-led, complex not-for-profit organisation

  • Strategic and operational business partnering role
  • Support leaders through change, growth and organisational development
  • Make a meaningful contribution within a values-led environment

An established, purpose-driven not-for-profit organisation is seeking a senior, commercially focused P&C Business Partner to provide trusted advice and practical support to leaders across a diverse and geographically dispersed workforce.

Working closely with senior leaders and the broader People & Culture team, you will help translate organisational priorities into effective people initiatives. This is a hands-on partnering role requiring sound judgement, strong relationship skills and the confidence to navigate complex employee matters while maintaining a constructive, solutions-focused approach.

The Opportunity
You will partner with leaders through change, growth and organisational transformation to build workforce capability, strengthen leadership effectiveness and support a positive, inclusive and accountable culture. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing trusted advice and coaching to leaders on people, culture and workforce matters
  • Supporting organisational change, workforce planning and the implementation of new ways of working
  • Managing employee relations matters, including performance, conduct, grievances and workplace investigations
  • Interpreting relevant legislation, Modern Awards, enterprise agreements, policies and employment conditions
  • Supporting talent, succession, performance and capability-development initiatives
  • Using workforce data and insights to identify trends, risks and areas for improvement
  • Contributing to the delivery of broader People & Culture projects and organisational priorities
  • Building strong relationships across a complex, multi-site operating environment
  • Promoting a safe, inclusive and values-aligned employee experience

About You
You will be an experienced People & Culture practitioner who brings pace, sound judgement and pragmatic people solutions to a purpose-led environment. Combine your contemporary HR knowledge with a pragmatic and commercially aware approach. You are comfortable working at both strategic and operational levels and can adapt your style to engage effectively with executives, operational leaders and employees.
Ideally, you will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in a People & Culture Business Partner or comparable role
  • Experience within a large, complex not-for-profit, community services, social services, health, disability, aged care, housing or similarly regulated environment
  • Strong employee relations and case-management capability
  • Working knowledge of Australian employment legislation, industrial instruments and contemporary P&C practices
  • Experience supporting organisational change, workforce planning and capability initiatives
  • The confidence to challenge constructively, influence decisions and coach leaders
  • Strong communication, stakeholder-management and relationship-building skills
  • A practical, responsive and solutions-focused working style
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in human resources, employee relations, business or a related discipline

Experience in the not-for-profit sector is strongly preferred, particularly within an organisation operating across multiple locations and balancing commercial discipline with a clear social purpose.

Why consider this opportunity? This role offers the opportunity to join an organisation making a tangible difference in the community. You will work with committed leaders and colleagues while helping shape an effective, inclusive and high-performing workplace.

The appointment is being managed confidentially. Further information about the organisation and position will be shared with suitably qualified candidates as the process progresses.

To express your interest, please submit your application online, including a current résumé and brief covering letter outlining your relevant experience.
The organisation is committed to diversity, inclusion and creating a culturally safe workplace. Applications are encouraged from people of all backgrounds, identities and lived experiences.
