About the role

We are seeking an experienced Panel Beater to join the team at Balcatta Panel and Paint. This is a full-time position based in Balcatta, WA 6021, offering a stable career in the automotive trades industry. As a Panel Beater, you will play a crucial role in restoring vehicles to their original condition by repairing and reshaping damaged vehicle bodies. This position is central to delivering high-quality workmanship and maintaining our reputation for excellence in panel and paint services.

Key responsibilities

• Assess vehicle damage and determine the most appropriate repair methods and techniques
• Remove damaged panels and body parts using specialised tools and equipment
• Use panel beating equipment to reshape and straighten damaged vehicle panels
• Measure and align panels to ensure correct fitment and aesthetics
• Prepare vehicle surfaces for painting by filling, grinding and sanding
• Work collaboratively with spray painters and other team members to ensure seamless workflow
• Maintain accurate records of repairs completed and materials used
• Adhere to health and safety standards and best practices throughout all repair work
• Operate and maintain panel beating equipment in good working order

What we're looking for

• Proven experience as a Panel Beater, ideally with several years of hands-on experience in vehicle body repair
• Strong knowledge of panel beating techniques, including metal straightening and reshaping
• Proficiency in using specialised tools and equipment such as panel beating hammers, dollies, pneumatic tools and measuring devices
• Ability to assess damage accurately and plan efficient repair strategies
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Valid driver's licence and willingness to take on-site test drives if required
• Relevant qualifications or certifications in panel beating or automotive repair is desirable
• Physical fitness and ability to work in a workshop environment, including standing for extended periods and lifting heavy components
