Panel beater / spray painter

About the role

Edwards Coaches is looking for an experienced Spray Painter / Panel Beater to join the workshop team in Armidale. The work is primarily on the fleet of buses, along with aircraft preparation and spray painting for sister company Edwards Aviation, and occasional work on cars and trucks. The role involves taking responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the panel shop while working with and leading a small team.

Key responsibilities

• Panel and body repairs to buses

• Spray painting and refinishing

• Accident repairs

• Fibreglass and general body repairs

• Aircraft preparation and spray painting

• Preparation, sanding and masking

• Occasional work on cars and trucks

• Helping coordinate and lead a small team

• Managing jobs through the dedicated panel shop

• Ensuring the fleet is well presented and arranging detailing, repairs and cosmetic work as required

About you

• Trade-qualified Spray Painter or Panel Beater ideally, particularly with experience across both areas
• Formal qualifications not essential if you have developed the right skills through experience and can demonstrate capability of producing high-quality work
• Takes pride in workmanship
• Can work independently and manage own jobs
• Good practical panel repair and/or spray-painting skills
• Comfortable working on larger vehicles
• Can lead and work alongside a small team
• Enjoys variety and willing to turn hand to different projects
